CHASSIS

The structure consists of a two-part concept: a main frame and a rear frame bolted to it, with an engine that provides additional support. The front suspension uses the BMW Motorrad Telelever system, with a central spring strut and a standard diameter of 37 mm. The rear wheel guide is equipped with a single-sided cast aluminum swing arm, featuring the BMW Motorrad Paralever system. It includes a WAD spring strut, with continuously adjustable preload hydraulically via an adjustment knob. Additionally, the rebound damping is also adjustable using an adjustment knob.

MOTOR

The engine remains unchanged in terms of its power and torque figures, with the Euro5 certification being its main update. It is a 1,254 cc engine that delivers 136 HP at 7,750 rpm and 143 Nm at 6,250 rpm. Thanks to its variable valve timing system - BMW ShiftCam - the R 1250 RT offers smooth operation, efficient fuel consumption, and strong mid-range power - more than 120 Nm from 3,500 rpm. This results in good acceleration and very linear power delivery, accompanied by low vibration and noise levels. Another important point is the ability to refuel with gasoline of less than 95 octane, which is common in some countries.

Another driver assistance system is the Full Integral ABS Pro, a combined system that also functions when the bike is leaning, and is linked to Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), which reduces engine torque during braking to enhance safety. This system is complemented by other aids, such as Dynamic Cruise Control (DCC) that maintains a constant speed on descents, and Active Cruise Control (ACC), an optional radar system that maintains distance from the vehicle ahead, keeping a speed between 30 km/h and 160 km/h and with cornering sensitivity. For hill starts, the R 1250 RT offers Hill Start Control, which can be enhanced with the Pro functionality.
